The best free autotune is the one that does the job with no catch: no trial that runs out, no watermark, no locked features, and formats your DAW actually loads. Here is the checklist, and how STARR TUNE answers each point.
Many free tuners are trials or cut down versions. STARR TUNE is free autotune with every feature included: no license key, no subscription, no expiry, and it works in personal and commercial music. Updates are free too.
Correction is only as good as the notes it aims for. STARR TUNE lets you pick Root and Chromatic, Major or Minor, and its Analyze WAV and Learn Input buttons suggest the key from your instrumental.
You want the robotic snap for rap and trap and a light touch for singing. Speed runs from 1 to 100 ms and Amount from 0 to 100%; the Hard tune button sets 1 ms and 100%, and Gentle sets 40 ms and 70%. See autotune settings for every style.
Formant preservation keeps the tone of the voice when notes move, so big corrections do not turn chipmunk or hollow. It is on by default.
Low latency mode drops the delay from about 56 ms to about 22 ms, so you can hear yourself tuned while you record.
VST3 and AAX on Windows 10 or later; AU, VST3 and AAX on macOS 11 or later, Apple Silicon and Intel. That covers FL Studio, Ableton Live, Logic Pro, Pro Tools, Studio One, Cubase, REAPER and GarageBand on Mac.
STARR TUNE checks for updates when it opens and has a free update page. Questions go to a real inbox: starrbabywrldwide@gmail.com.
STARR TUNE corrects automatically as the vocal plays. It does not edit single notes on a graph. If you need note by note editing, that is the job of a paid graphical editor. Read the full comparison in free autotune alternative.
Look for a tuner that is free for good, has key and scale control, both hard and natural settings, formant preservation, low latency and VST3, AU and AAX. STARR TUNE has all of these and costs nothing.
For automatic correction and the hard tune sound, yes. STARR TUNE is licensed for commercial music at no cost. Note by note editing still needs a graphical editor.
